Energy Certification

Pure future

The energy certification of the Banco de Portugal buildings was carried out individually for each building, through the Energy Performance Regulation of Trade and Services Buildings (RECS) and hrough the Energy Performance Regulation of Housing Buildings (REH), in the case of buildings belonging to the Quinta da Fonte Santa Training Centre. The System for Energy Certification of Buildings (SCE) and its regulations were approved by the European Parliament and seek to contribute to the improvement of the national building stock, also contributing to increasing the level of information of building users about their energy performance.
With regard to the verification of the Energy Performance Regulation for Service Trade Buildings (RECS) for all buildings of this typology, the services provided include:

  • Climatic characterisation and framing of the building and thermal characterisation of its surroundings;
  • Characterisation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, preparation of sanitary hot water (DHW), lighting and elevators;
  • Computer simulation of the building using graphical geometric modelling interface DesignBuilder and dynamic computer simulation software Energyplus;
  • Quantification of consumption;
  • Determination of the Energy Efficiency Class;
  • Preparation of the Energy Rationalisation Plan, a plan consisting of a set of measures to reduce energy consumption and costs in buildings;
  • Technical and financial analysis of the improvement measures regarding the installation/refurbishment of lighting systems.

With regard to the verification of the Energy Performance Regulations for Residential Buildings (REH) of the Training Centre and Casa do Caseiro of Quinta da Fonte Santa, the services provided covered:

  • Climatic characterisation and framing of the building and thermal characterisation of its surroundings;
  • Characterisation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, preparation of sanitary hot water (DHW);
