Clean Development Mechanism Project - CDM

Pure future

Shree Digvijay Cement Company Ltd. (SDCC) has developed a project to generate power through the implementation of a heat recovery system at its cement plant in Gujarat Province, India. When the project was prepared, SDCC's cement plant had an annual production capacity of 8.86 million tons of clinker and a dry process line in the furnace with double separate separation chain for calciner (furnace line [K -line] and calciner [C- line]), rotary kiln and clinker cooler.

The project's activity is based on the use of waste heat from the clinker production line and from the existing DG assemblies for energy generation. The project's activities include the installation of four heat recovery boilers, a steam turbine assembly and a power generation unit. The installed capacity of the project is 8.25 MW (auxiliary energy consumption of 0.69 MW and available power of 7.56 MW), with a net annual electricity generation of about 50,803 MWh/year. The project's activity will allow a reduction in annual emissions of approximately 45,902 t CO₂e.

Ecoprogresso was tasked with putting together the CDM project; namely:

  • Developing the PDD (Project Design Document);
  • Providing assistance in obtaining the necessary approvals;
  • Coordinating the DOE validation process;
  • Coordinating the approval process (LoA issuing) in the host country.
