The Inspira Santa Marta Hotel is distinguished by its concern to maintain an environmentally sustainable activity, seeking to know their corporate annual carbon footprint, and thus promote the actions required to reduce and/or neutralized the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The services provided consist of preparing the annual GHG emissions inventory associated to the hotel activities, spa, and restaurant, including:
- Direct emissions from scope 1, associated with the consumption of fuel by the vehicle fleet; gas consumption in boilers; diesel-burning emergency generators and leakage of fluorinated gases in air conditioning equipment;
- Indirect emissions from scope 2, associated with the production of electricity purchased and consumed in the company;
- Indirect emissions of scope 3, associated with the wastewater treatment, the municipal solid waste treatment, the employee commuting, the business travel by train, and airplane and hotel stay in missions.
The calculation methodology follows the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (PGHG) of the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
It was also made all the advice and support to offset the CO2e emissions, which could not be avoided, in the years 2013/2014, through the purchase of certified carbon credits and in the year 2015 by performing a donation to support a changing climate (Sown Biodiverse Pastures Project).
