GHG Emissions Offsetting

Pure future

Carbon offsetting is an activity commonly adopted at a national and international level, which hinges on the principle that one activity emitting greenhouse gases (GHG) can be neutralised by another activity contributing to the reduction of GHG in the atmosphere, either by its removal (carbon sequestration), or by avoiding the use of more polluting technologies (renewable energies), as well as by activities that mitigate the effects of Climate Change by improving our capacity to adapt to this phenomenon.

In recent years, CTT, as part of its Energy, Carbon and Climate Change Management Policy, has opted to offset its Green Mail and Express Mail emissions by supporting national and international projects.

Ecoprogresso has been a partner in this process, acting through its Carbonfree® trademark, which allows attesting to the neutrality of greenhouse gas emissions of a company, product or activity, through emission offsetting. In recent years, the following emissions have thus been offset:

Year 2018:

  • Express Mail: 150 tCO2, through support for Quercus' River Organism Conservation Project;
  • Express Mail: 97.2 tCO2, through support for Quercus' Criar Bosques (Create Woods) Project.

Year 2017:

  • Express Mail: 205 tCO2, through support for Quercus' River Organism Conservation Project;
  • Green Mail: 98 tCO2, through support for Quercus' Criar Bosques (Create Woods) Project.
