The project's first phase, in 2008, consisted of the Technical and Economic Assessment of a Project to Reduce Nitrous Oxide Emissions in Nitric Acid Production, which included the following phases:
- Support in the selection of appropriate technology and methodologies;
- Benchmarking;
- Assessment of Reduction Potential;
- Investment impact analysis.
This project also included the analysis of interest in applying for funding from the Portuguese Carbon Fund, including an analysis of eligibility and an impact on investment.
After the completion and acceptance of the application, until 2013, ECOPROGRESSO supported the implementation of the annual monitoring of the project, which was a successful investment in combating climate change.
